Since 2011, I’ve been the US representative for ARCA-SWISS International. I have 30 years' experience teaching, photographing and selling ARCA-SWISS large format cameras, technical cameras and specialized tripod heads.
I was educated at Arizona State University where I received a BA in History, BA in Geography, and an MFA in Photography. My mentors in photography while at ASU were Mark Klett, Bill Jay and Van Deren Coke. Outside of school, I studied and assisted with master photographer, Oliver Gagliani. At his workshops in Northern California, I was taught the Zone System for film exposure and development, black and white printing, and other skills helpful in teaching. Later, I was an adjunct professor at Scottsdale Community College, where I taught large format photography, the Zone System and black and white printing for several decades. Fun times!
Besides my current work at ARCA-SWISS, I've taught large format workshops with Dick Arentz, Randy Efros and Leroy DeJolie when my schedule allowed. I also enjoy personal training where I spend a day or two with a client one-on-one. I'll teach technical camera or view camera technique in the field, the Zone System, finding true film speed, film development, printing, etc.
